Leadership
The Tree of Lives leadership team consists of dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Pastor Jim Wood is Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virgina. His wife Sheryl Wood is the Mission Coordinator at the First Pres Church. Jim first visited Nazareth Hospital and Holy Family Center in Nairobi Kenya in 2005. In 2007 Jim, Sheryl and their family spent six months in Kenya. During their time in Kenya, Tree of Lives was launched as a multi faceted ministry with the vision of strengthening the African Christian family as together we fight poverty and AIDS. Jim and Sheryl continue to give Tree of Lives spiritual guidance and encouragement as they share their love for the Kenyan people.
Kate and Rudy Miller are retired and reside in Norfolk, Virginia. They first traveled to Kenya in 2007 and currently are spending three to five months at Nazareth Hospital. Rudy’s career as a business executive and Kate’s background in nursing seem to have equipped them to deal with the various activities of TOL in Kenya. The Millers provide the Kenyans and TOL with insight and planning expertise on projects initiated by Nazareth Hospital, Holy Family Center and TOL.
Steve Story is an attorney in Norfolk, Virginia. Steve accompanied Pastor Jim Wood on their first trip to Kenya in 2005. Since that time Steve has traveled to Kenya several times and continues to provide Tree of Lives with guidance from a business and legal perspective. For the past several years, Steve has taken on the responsibility of tracking our 19 Kenyan scholarship students.
Dave Breen is a business executive from Norfolk, Virginia. Dave has made several visits to Kenya and continues to assist Tree of Lives as the leader of the TOL Strategic Planning group. Dave has a heart for the various Income Generating projects at Holy Family Center HIV/AIDS clinic in Kenya and has provided mentorship guidance to their various staff.
Chris Tyree is the principal and founder of Re:Act Media and director of Truth With a Camera Workshops. Chris has visited Kenya and the Sudan where he has produced several award winning documentaries on his visits. Chris continues to provide technical advice and input into the TOL web site and promotional materials.
Becky Lyle Pinkard is the Information Coordinator for Tree of Lives and the Assistant to the Senior Pastor at First Pres. Although Becky’s first trip to Kenya is recent, she returned anxious to help promote TOL. She now maintains and updates the various social networking sites of TOL and coordinates the travel arrangements for the various visitors to Kenya.
