Improving Health Through Programs That Work

Tree of Lives is engaged in a broad spectrum of services and projects, each of which addresses one or more of the primary objectives of HIV/AIDS prevention, HIV/AIDS treatment and poverty relief. The programs are administered by Nazareth Hospital, which is located approximately 15 miles from Nairobi, Kenya. An extension of the hospital includes the Holy Family Centre AIDS Clinic.

Our programs focus on three primary objectives:

HIV/AIDS Prevention – Tree of Lives supports the training of teachers and counselors by supplying them with tools for promoting prevention, including free testing, videos, newsletters, discussion groups, posters and other educational vehicles.

HIV/AIDS Treatment – The lives of HIV-infected individuals can be lengthened and improved by medicine and better hygiene. Tree of Lives provides funding for: the distribution of antiretroviral drugs; the operation of treatment centers and educational programs for doctors, nurses and caregivers.

Poverty Relief – People infected with HIV/AIDS and their families typically are also very poor and often unable to pay for food, health care and other basic necessities. Tree of Lives programs provide free or reduced-cost medical treatment and free food for the poorest of the poor. We also help HIV/AIDS patients to establish income-generating small businesses in order to support themselves and their families. Tree of Lives also provides aid for the care of children orphaned by AIDS.

Did you know transmission of AIDS can be prevented from mother to child at birth?
