TAKING A BREAK!

Pre Covid-19, Kenya had a structured system of education where schools were in session from January to December for both primary and secondary schools. As it did with so much else, the pandemic brought change to that calendar. When schools reopened last year, it was with the intention of combining two years into a little over one to make up for lost instruction time. Students repeated the year they lost in 2020 at the beginning of 2021 and then moved into the next grade halfway through the year. In February of 2022, they had a break and then sat their exams at the beginning of March. Whew!

In Kenya, there is an examination at every educational segment to promote to the next level. In order to prepare for their exams, the Joy Village kids spent time with tutors reviewing and practicing. With their exams complete, the kids are now out of school until April, when they will begin the next grade.

During their well-earned time off the Joy Village kids are doing lots of fun things. Playing games & baking cakes are just two of the activities they're having fun with this week. Some of the older kids head off to the Oasis Youth Center until the beginning of April.

Please pray for our kids to have restful break and a great start when they return to school in late spring!
