Hosting the First Lady of Kenya & Botswana

There has been lots of discussion in Kenya about HIV in adolescents and youth. As many know, this is one of the most confusing, challenging, frustrating and fascinating phases of human development. It is a period of conflict and growth through physical, sexual and emotional changes.

The teenager’s world is often confusing and changing so quickly that young people do not always adjust effectively. Partners and donors have found themselves in an awkward position not knowing what to do.

The youth program at Nazareth is having HUGE success with this age group and their adherence to HIV drugs and their viral suppression load. Last month, Nazareth Hospital hosted the two first ladies from Kenya and Botswana. The adolescent and youths engaged with these two and offered a glimpse into their world and walked them through the clinical process. What an important visit to showcase the amazing work this program does day in and day out.
